Leaving New York City

Please remember us as we plan to leave tomorrow at 6am. We want to beat the traffic. I'm not sure how much I will be able to keep up with you here on our blog. We are planning to return home here on Jan 2nd.

Traffic in the city

The city continues to be a huge mess with so many cars on the streets. New York City always has a lot of cars on the streets but now that the world's largest transit is closed down it seems like everybody in NYC that owns a vehicle is on the streets. It takes quite a bit more time getting from point A to point B. It's not uncommon to sit and watch the same light change from red to green a couple of times before you can drive through. There's a lot of intersections that are grid-locked.
It's definitely interesting.

Hey what do ya got in this thing?

New York City Is A Mess!!!

This morning at 3am all subway trains and buses closed down. The transit workers went on strike. For a city that is normally a zoo things have now stepped up a couple notches to totally crazy!! The taxi drivers are fare gouging. They are charging people $10 just to get in their car and then more fares from there.
They said on the news this strike is costing the city $400 million a day in lost buisness.
3.5 million people have to find there way to work. The nations largest transit system is closed down. Schools are delayed. 33,000 transit workers off the job.
This hasn't happened for 25 years, the last strike was in 1980 and lasted for 11 days.
